About the role
Director of Sales (DOS), responsible for promoting the hotel on a local and national level by continuing to secure new business and retain existing accounts, whilst maximizing revenue growth from each individual account and enquiry. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic DOS, who will oversee the development and expansion of the customer base for QT Auckland, and pioneer all sales strategies across all market segments. Leading a small and vibrant team, this role reports directly into the Hotel General Manager, and is directly responsible for the hotel achieving budgeted rooms revenue growth, and maintaining above-market returns.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead direction, leadership and management of key market strategies.
- Own and exceed annual sales targets across all market segments, including corporate contracted, consortia, inbound, groups and events.
- Development and implementation of annual and periodic sales activity plans; guiding a team of 5 on best practice in creating unique, objective driven activity plans & analyzing outcomes.
- Stay abreast of the market to identify trends and opportunities whilst providing strategic advice on future sales decisions to grow revenue ahead of the market.
- End to end sales, maintain and develop an ongoing new business pipeline and key account management plan for managed clients.
- Proactively identify and act upon new business opportunities for the wider Event Hospitality & Entertainment brands.
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a co-operative and harmonious working environment, embracing our company values of possibilities, community and empowerment.
- Guide and support the Conference & Events Team and work closely with the Events Manager to ensure KPI’s are being met and strategies are in place.

Skills & experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Events / Hospitality / Tourism preferred.
- Proven experience in a similar sales role.
- Good team player and motivator, positive and proactive, strong communication and a can-do attitude.
- Highly developed organizational skills and excellent administrative skills including attention to detail.
- Ability to work to multiple deadlines whilst staying calm under pressure.
- Ability to work autonomously and show initiative.
- Outstanding communications and presentation skills both written and verbal.
