About the role 

As Night Manager, you will be the leader on duty, overseeing hotel operations and ensuring smooth and secure overnight shifts. You will be responsible for guest satisfaction, team leadership, security, and the financial close of the day. Your ability to problem-solve, provide outstanding service, and manage the unexpected will set you apart.

Your typical duties will include but won’t be limited to:

  • Oversee the hotel’s overnight operations, ensuring all departments function smoothly.
  • Be the primary point of contact for guests, handling requests, concerns, and ensuring a seamless stay.
  • Supervise and support the night team, including reception and security.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies and safety procedures.
  • Handle emergency situations with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Maintain high service standards aligned with QT Melbourne’s unique and vibrant brand.
  • Welcoming our late arrival guests and farewelling our early departures. 
  • Maximising the guest experience as well as the safety and security of the property. 
  • Attending to guests requests efficiently and effectively in order to ensure total customer satisfaction. 
  • Managing daily reconciliation of hotel outlets and completing daily revenue postings. 
  • Responsible for management and audit of physical keys. This includes the tracking of keys that are issued to employees or contractors, as well as the retrieval of keys when they are no longer needed. The goal is to ensure that all keys are accounted for and that access to the associated areas is properly controlled. 
  • Preparing and distributing relevant audit reports. 
  • Managing and confirming reservation details and accounts for in-house guests details ensuring all details are recorded accurately. 
  • Collating paperwork for departures and coordinate with the Front Office team. 
  • Responding to guest enquires and requests in a timely manner. 
  • Ensuring an effective handover of issues is conveyed at the start and end of each shift.

Skills & experience 

  • Previous experience in a hotel management role, preferably in night operations.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and guest service abilities.
  • Proficiency in hotel management systems and financial reporting.
  • A hands-on approach with a keen eye for detail.
  • The ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.
  • Experience in emergency and security procedures is highly regarded.
  • Well-groomed, classy professional, we love big smiles. 
  • A fun personality with a welcoming presence. 
  • Enjoy being part of a team and have a hands-on attitude.
  • People that love looking after people, and exceeding guests’ expectations
  • Manual Driver’s License required. 
  • Proactive and positive mindset with a ‘can do’ attitude that is contagious. 
  • High level of computer literacy – Opera experience preferred. 
  • Availability to work a 7 day rotating roster from 11pm to 7am is essential.
