About the role

We are seeking skilled persons to take on Hotel Handyperson positions.

We’re looking for trustworthy, energetic individuals who can work unsupervised and in team environments. The right candidates will have the essential “can do” attitude, good communication skills, be dependable and punctual.

Trade skills or hotel experience are advantageous, but not essential. In hotel training is provided.

The position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day up-keep of the hotel. Lifting and physical activity is part of this active “hands on” role.  We are flexible in working with the right candidates preferred number of hours per week.

The Handyperson role includes:

  • Perform in an all-round capacity in all facets of the Maintenance team. Carrying out duties in a responsible and competent manner.
  • Have initiative for the rotating and flexible rostering, according to the hotels business needs.
  • Respond to and carry out all departmental or guest requested defects, repairs and or general assistance. 
  • Communicate directly with the appropriate trades persons or contractors, and follow up until action has been taken.
  • Respond promptly to all calls for assistance and communicate actions taken.
  • Maintain neat and presentable self-appearance in accordance with the hotel’s grooming standards.
  • Maintain harmonious working relationships with other staff members.
  • Keep a clean and safe working environment.
  • Comply with all of the hotel’s operational policies and procedures.
  • Gain full knowledge and practice all of the hotel’s occupational health and safety guidelines (WH&S).
