About the role

Rydges Newcastle is seeking an experienced Handyperson to join the motivated and passionate maintenance team. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, this varied role requires you to maintain the building, plant & equipment and fixtures and fittings throughout the Hotel to a high standard.

Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer the successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking general repairs, patching & painting, plumbing, carpentry and preventative maintenance throughout the Hotel
  • Servicing of plant and general equipment as directed
  • Performing varied and wide range of repair and maintenance tasks throughout the hotel with minimal supervision and with diligence
  • Assisting other team members in the completion of their duties

Skills & experience 

The successful applicant will have previous experience in a similar role and high operating standards with an exceptional eye for detail and the ability to work both unsupervised and in a team environment. 

  • Previous experience in a similar role or the ability to demonstrate skills required to be successful in this role
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • The ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Proven record of reliability, punctuality and presentation.
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Have a solid understanding of Safe Work Practices and WH&S
