About the role
Working under & directly supporting the General Manager in all aspects of the Hotel’s daily operations particularly in the GM’s absence.
In this newly created ‘hands on’ role, the Assistant Manager would have a broad range of responsibilties including:
- Assisting the GM by overseeing the daily operations of the Hotel and ensuring that all departments are working towards the same goals.
- Supporting, working with and constantly inspiring every team member in all departments.
- Ensuring high levels of customers satisfaction through excellent service
- Direct hands on support of the Food & Beverage management team to ensure smooth operation of all outlets including conferencing.
- Assisting F&B team with Stock control & ordering as required.
- Assisting Front Office Team with daily tasking.
- Oversight and control of various aspects of the hotel’s accounts specifically A/R, weekly banking & cash control.
- Being on-site and providing ‘coverage’ in the GM’s absence including weekends.
- Maintaining a relationship with the Hotel owners.
- Lead, recruit, train, motivate and coach a high performing team
- Report on business performance, sales, new initiatives and relevant issues
- Keep up to date on new products, services & industry trends

Skills & experience
- Experience in a similar role or ready to step up into a challenge.
- A career minded hospitality professional
- Knowledge of Opera PMS & Micros is essential
- A passion for Food & Beverage with hands on abilities and a valid RSA
- A solid grasp on Hotel accounts processes
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent customer service & communication skills
- Motivated and with a positive attitude
- Good decision-making and commercial savvy
