About the role

As the Head Barista at CBD, you will be responsible for creating high-quality coffee beverages, providing excellent customer service, leading the breakfast team and contributing to the overall success of our cafe. 

The position is full-time position of 38 hours per week and will predominately be morning shifts across a 7-day roster. 

  1. Preparing and serving a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, ensuring consistent quality and taste.
  2. Leading and training the team to develop the best quality coffee and service
  3. Assist in the growth and improvement of CBD cafe 
  4. Assisting customers in making beverage selections and answering any questions they may have.
  5. Operating coffee equipment, including espresso machines, grinders, and brewing devices.
  6. Maintaining a clean and organised workspace, including proper cleaning and maintenance of coffee equipment.
  7. Managing inventory, restocking supplies, and notifying management of any shortages.
  8. Processing customer payments and handling cash transactions accurately.
  9. Maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for our customers.

Skills & experience 

  • Previous barista experience within medium to large sized cafes – 15 to 20kgs or more per week highly regarded
  • Completion of a barista training course 
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol
  • A passion for coffee and a desire to pass on your barista skills to the team.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and stay calm under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and sanitation.
  • A positive and friendly attitude, with a focus on teamwork.
