About the role

We are seeking Commi  Chefs to join our team. We are looking for a leader to enhance our culinary offering and mentor a team of chefs to deliver exceptional experiences for our guests. Some of your responsibilities will be:

  • Assisting Executive Chef with promotion of his culinary vision 
  • Liaise with other hotel departments to ensure exceptional guest experiences
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and presentation, keeping all work areas both front of house and back of house clean and in working order
  • Evaluate recipes to determine pricing for menu items, considering food, labor, and overhead expenses
  • Prepare and cook various types of food in large quantities, either regularly or for special events.
  • Based on customers’ preferences develop the menu.
  • Conduct inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Requisition stock, materials, supplies, or equipment.
  • Recruit and hire staff, including cooks and another kitchen worker. 
  • Schedule employee work hours by coordinating activities.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation.
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff.
  • Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure conformance to established standards.
  • Consult with customers to plan menus for special occasions..
  • Enforce OH&S and hygiene regulations.

Skills & experience 

  • Ability to work a variety of shifts and flexibility with hours
  • Previous hotel experience is preferable 
  • Experience working in a fast paced, high-pressure kitchen environment whilst leading a team in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere
