Coming In 2024: Thredbo Alpine Coaster
This summer, Thredbo will continue construction on Australia’s first Alpine Coaster. Planned to open for winter 2024, the coaster will diversify Thredbo’s recreational offering through the provision of a year-round all-weather rail-guided toboggan ride. The coaster is approximately 1.5 km in length with a mix of uphill and downhill tracks, a tunnel, bridges and circles that traverse through the alpine environment with passengers able to control their speed of up to 40 km/hr.
Thredbo is dedicated to ensuring a continuous plan of development is in place. Due to annual chairlift maintenance and the construction of the Alpine Coaster, the Kosciuszko Chairlift, Snowgums Chairlift and Merritts Gondola will be closed from 9 October – 14 November and there will be no scenic lift access during this period, with further closures potentially required from 29 April 2024 to 26 May 2024.
