Event Cinemas brings an Australian first cinema experience to the Gold Coast

Australia’s first ScreenX will launch on Thursday at Event Cinemas Robina, bringing a revolutionary new way to experience blockbuster movies. ScreenX is the world’s first multi-projection cinema experience that expands specially selected scenes of the film across the left and right cinema walls to deliver an immersive, 270-degree field of view.

Never before seen in Australia, ScreenX will feature screens spanning three walls and display a picture up to 67.7 meters wide. With Dolby surround sound and the choice of recliner seating, ScreenX naturally fills audiences peripheral vision to create an immersive experience.

Luke Mackey, Director of Entertainment Australia for EVT said, “At Event Cinemas, we are dedicated to bringing the best range of cinema experiences to Australian audiences. ScreenX is popular globally and we can’t wait for our local audiences to experience it. Our next stop will be Sydney.”

“We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with Event Cinemas by premiering Australia’s first ScreenX experience,” said Don Savant, Chief Business Officer, CJ 4DPLEX. “Our talented team of ScreenX visual effects artists work closely with the Hollywood studios and top talent to truly differentiate movie going. ScreenX provides an unparalleled experience in a completely unique format to watch the biggest blockbuster films.”

ScreenX will open at Event Cinemas Robina on 17 August 2023, with tickets on sale now. Upcoming films in ScreenX will include The Creator, Dune II, The Marvels and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom as well as past blockbusters, such as Top Gun: Maverick, Avatar: The Way of Water, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.

Event Cinemas plans to roll out ScreenX nationally, including Sydney later in the year.
