EVT confirmed as new IMAX Sydney operator

The world class entertainment experience returns to the harbour city in 2023

EVT today has been announced as the operator of IMAX Sydney, located within the Ribbon at Darling Harbour.

EVT are market-leading creators of some of the best brands and properties in entertainment, ventures and travel. With over 140 cinema experiences across Australia, Germany and New Zealand. IMAX Sydney will be the fourth IMAX operated by EVT internationally, joining IMAX Auckland, IMAX Queensgate (New Zealand), and IMAX Karlsruhe (Germany).

Anticipated to open later this year, the new venue will showcase IMAX’s most advanced theatre experience ever, and will draw on EVT’s expertise in delivering premium entertainment experiences.

IMAX Sydney will feature an awe-inspiring 693 m2 screen, developed from the ground-up to be immersive by design and deliver crystal clear, life-like images and precision audio for an incredible movie-going experience. It will integrate a ground- breaking 4K laser projection system that features a new optical engine, custom designed lenses, and a suite of proprietary technology that delivers brighter images with increased resolution and deeper contrast, with the widest range of colours exclusive to IMAX screens.

In an Australian first, IMAX Sydney, will feature EVT’s signature ‘Your Cinema, Your Way’ seating giving movie-goers the choice to upgrade their experience with multiple seating options from full recliners to private pods. In addition, the location will also offer a marketplace food and beverage experience.
