The south of Adelaide’s CBD flaunts the relaxed setting of a new, contemporary Mediterranean inspired restaurant, ela, now open and helmed by Executive Chef Nigel Rich and Head Chef Ashleigh Lindner.

Offering an immersive, flavoursome dining experience with a focus on shared plates, ela features dishes inspired by the Mediterranean, expertly cooked with local South Australian produce. The abundant menu provides options for breakfast, all-day dining, light poolside snacks, dinner and in-room dining.

Situated within the newly opened Hotel Alba, ela provides a little slice of paradise with its light filled restaurant overlooking the refurbished pool and outdoor area. ela encourages patrons to dine in and splash out, with effortless transitions from sunrise breakfasts to long lunches and lavish dinners.

Samantha Farrington, General Manager of Hotel Alba says ela will attract both locals and travellers with a love for rich Mediterranean flavours, local ingredients and memorable dining experiences.

“This is a restaurant that appeals to a wide audience – and not just hotel guests,” says Farrington. “With a strong focus on local produce including an extensive South Australian beverage list, we are certain people from across Adelaide and beyond will fall in love with ela’s authentic culinary experience.

Led by Executive Chef Nigel Rich (d’Arrys Verandah, Jolley’s Boathouse, Universal Wine Bar, The Elbow Room), and Head Chef Ashleigh Lindner (Crusoe’s Restaurant, Sheraton Grand Mirage), ela pays homage to Hotel Alba’s urban retreat aesthetics.

"ela has a vast menu that is perfect for any dining occasion. The menu is inspired by various areas throughout the Mediterranean region, whilst also highlighting some of South Australia's finest produce," says Rich and Lindner.

Lunch and dinner feature a variety of meats and seafood that take the spotlight, with 12-hour braised lamb shanks and grilled chermoula prawns, and small bites to delight of Ouzo grilled squid and octopus carpaccio with Yuzu caviar. Best designed to be shared, tasting menus have been expertly curated to celebrate the vast menu options.

Seating 140, the venue features casual bar seating, as well as a main dining area, poolside function space and a private dining room for intimate groups of 25. ela will host live music on Friday’s, as well as activations to inspire including Paint & Sips and bottomless brunches.
