LyLo Auckland wins prestigious design Award

Travel

LyLo Auckland, the flagship and first hotel for the EVT budget lifestyle brand, has won the coveted Best Hotel of the Year – Conversion award at the Australasia-Pacific Hotel Design Awards. The awards celebrate exceptional hotel interior design for projects in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific completed in 2022. Highlighting outstanding projects that showcase design innovation, commitment to sustainable design practices, and exceptional guest experience.

LyLo collaborated with CPRW Architecture to bring to this light hearted and relaxed environment to life. It caters to all styles of travel, featuring a mix of 190 private sleeping pods, 37 private double rooms with shared amenities and 40 private ensuite rooms.  Communal spaces were cleverly fitted-out with places to play and work. Digital nomads take advantage of LyLo’s co-working spaces, while other guests enjoy the look out to Auckland Harbour bridge on swinging chairs, write a letter home on a retro typewriter or cook up a storm in the communal kitchen.

Judges’ comments, “This hotel is a refreshing transformation of an existing commercial office building into a budget lifestyle accommodation experience which is a true disruptor of the budget hotel sector in Australasia.  The judging panel felt that the design achieved the concept of a “village within a village,” creating a complete social travel experience with multi-purpose spaces for guests to play, eat and work.

We were particularly impressed by innovative design solutions for communal sleeping arrangements to support guests’ privacy and wellbeing. The efficiency of the planning and construction has been offset by the creative use of everyday finishes, bold colour and playful graphics, resulting in a budget hotel which feels anything but.”

Managing Director of LyLo, Tim Alpe said, “We are absolutely delighted to have Lylo Auckland recognised at such a high level. When we developed LyLo we torn up with rulebook and turned budget accommodation on its head. LyLo Auckland was meticulously designed with stylish finishes, to offer a super affordable cool place to sleep for savvy travellers.”

“The results speak for themselves with customer sentiment and occupancy through the roof. The beauty of LyLo (unlike other hotel brands) is that we can take a non-traditional building like a warehouse or office and create incredible spaces. No two LyLo locations will look the same but they will offer our guests an unbelievable budget lifestyle travel experience. We can’t wait to open more LyLo locations soon,” said Tim.
