Registration Opens For Thredbo’s Cannonball MTB Festival & 2023 National MTB Championships

Thredbo Resort is preparing to host one of Australia's biggest MTB events as the Cannonball MTB Festival presented by Boost Mobile and the 2023 AusCycling National MTB Championships are combined to create ten straight days of racing from 8 - 18 February 2023.

Thredbo Resort is excited to announce that registrations are now open for it's biggest ever MTB event this summer. Following a recent partnership with AusCycling, the 2023 National MTB Championships will be hosted at Thredbo Mountain Bike Park and combined with the 9th Cannonball MTB Festival presented by Boost Mobile to create ten consecutive days of MTB racing.

A highly-anticipated event on the MTB calendar, the Cross-Country National Championship events will run from 8 February to 12 February 2023, with the Downhill & Pump Track National Championship events running as part of the Cannonball MTB Festival from 13 February to 18 February 2023.

Speaking of the events, AusCycling Executive General Manager of Sport, Kipp Kaufmann, said “As one of Australia’s premier mountain bike destinations, we are thrilled to be working with Thredbo to host the National Championships this year. The integration with Cannonball will make it a unique experience for riders and we anticipate that the registration numbers will reflect this.”

Thredbo MTB Business Manager, Tim Windshuttle said "The response that we received to Thredbo hosting Cannonball and the National Champs together has been really positive. It's going to be a massive ten days of racing and we can't wait to showcase the best of Thredbo MTB Park to everyone from X-Country to downhill riders."

8 February – 18 February: 2023 National MTB Championships
For the first time in decades, Thredbo Mountain Bike Park will play host to the National MTB Championships with four days of National Cross-Country Championship events including Olympic, Short Track and Relay races followed by Pump Track and Downhill races as part of the Cannonball MTB Festival event schedule. Additionally, the National Championship events for Trials will be hosted on February 18 2023.

  • Wednesday 8th | Official Training
  • Thursday 9th | XCO Racing: Adaptive, E-MTB, Team Relay
  • Friday 10th | XCC Racing: All Divisions
  • Saturday 11th | XCO Racing: Expert, Masters
  • Sunday 12th | XCO Racing: U13, U15, U17, U19, U23, Elite

X-Country National Championship Event Registration:

  • XCO Adult: $99
  • XCO Junior: $79
  • XCC All Divisions: $29
  • XCC Relay: $60

13 February – 18 February: 2023 Cannonball MTB Festival
The Cannonball MTB Festival is Australia’s biggest and most prestigious gravity mountain bike festival, featuring a huge line-up of events to suit all levels in addition to a massive prize pool of over $100,000. The integration of the Australian Downhill and Pump Track National Championships into the Cannonball schedule is set to raise the stakes even higher as riders compete to win both titles in one race.

  • Saturday 18th | Deity Whip Wars (Invite Only)

Cannonball MTB Festival Event Registration:

  • Adult All Event Entry: $449
  • Child All Event Entry: $429
  • Adult Single Event Entry: $229
  • Child Single Event Entry: $209
  • Adult Single Pump Track Challenge Event Entry: $49
  • Child Single Pump Track Challenge Event Entry: $39

All Event Entry includes 6-day lift access valid from 13 - 18 February and Single Event Entry includes 2-day lift access which is valid for the day before and day of the event. All season pass holders receive a 20% discount on All Event Entry Registration. Riders who register for Australian Open Downhill or Pump Track Challenge will automatically be entered into the National Championships for these events.

Non-Stop Good Times
The action won’t be stopping on the track during Cannonball with a huge line-up of live music and entertainment planned including a DJ set from Northeast Party House at the Cannonball Closing Party on 18 February 2023.
