Event Cinemas redesigns gifting with an environmental focus, launching 100% recyclable gift cards 

In time for Christmas, Event Cinemas rolls out environmentally friendly gift cards.

As part of EVT’s goal to build a better tomorrow, the Entertainment business has begun rolling out Event Cinemas 100% Recyclable Gift Cards, available nationwide in both Event Cinemas and third-party retailers, and just in time for Christmas! 

Event Cinemas, Australia’s largest cinema operator, has partnered with suppliers to create 100% recyclable gift cards, crafted from FSC certified materials, and printed using soy inks. By making the switch to recyclable gift cards, Event Cinemas estimates that up to 6,75 tonnes per year could be diverted from landfill. 

The phased rollout of these eco-friendly gift cards has commenced, and is scheduled to be completed by mid-2024, ensuring all Event Cinemas Gift Cards, whether purchased at third party retailers, in-cinemas or online, will be part of the sustainability initiative. 

In time for the festive season, Event Cinemas has introduced Christmas-themed 'Merry Movies' designs, which will also be available in the recyclable format. These limited-edition seasonal designs can be purchased in-cinema at Event Cinemas, in Coles and Woolworths supermarkets or online via the Event Cinemas gift shop.

As part of the initiative, Event Cinemas' gift card range has also undergone a design refresh. Additionally, a new ‘Celebration’ design with a $50 denomination will be available in-cinema at Event Cinemas and Woolworths retailers from November. 

Event Cinemas offers a range of denominations to cater to diverse gifting needs, with $30, $50, and $100 Gift Card options available online, and a customisable range from $25 to $500 at local cinema outlets.
